Description

The domain of l’Aurage, formerly Château Cadet, was bought by Caroline is Louis Mitjavile in 2006. After years of work as advisor for different estates in Bordeaux, Languedoc, Spain, Argentina and the USA, Louis decided to acquire his own vineyard. And since he considers that a winery is not just a business but a “way of life”, it is quite natural that he projects himself with his wife Caroline.
Louis Mitjavile grew up in Tertre Roteboeuf, the family property owned by his parents, François and Emilie Mitjavile. A property in Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, which is the subject of excellent returns.

Loulou and Caroline were looking for a property close to Saint-Emilion that was not located on the same terroirs as family properties. They naturally looked to the Côtes de Castillon appellation, “a magnificent spot, untamed and undulating” which has the advantage of being near to Saint-Emilion.

The vineyard is a single block of 20 hectares on limestone clay soils. It is a type of terroir that Louis knows well.
The couple had to convert some of the buildings into barrel ageing cellars in order to work in optimum conditions. He presented his first vintage in 2007.
