À l’origine – Saint Chinian
Mediterranean wine with ruby colour. Complex and medium nose with spicy flavour and refreshing bitter. Aromas of thyme, black olives and red fruits. Fleshy tannins and a broad mouth-feel that leads into a medium finish in mouth with floral and fruity aromas. Supple and fruity mouth with round tannins, notes of ripe fruit and garrigue.
Clos Bagatelle has been owned by the Simon family since 1623 and has been passed down from mother to daughter since then.
Their 60 hectares of vineyard grows vines aged up to 100 years!
Their vineyards are located in three terroirs of Saint-Chinian : low-elevation limestone (150 meters altitude) in the southern sector, schist at around 250 meters altitude in the northern and eastern sectors and high-elevation sandtone (350 meters altitude) in the western sector.
Today, it is Christine and her brother who take care of the domain and continue to produce wines expressing the typical terroir of Saint-Chinian. They have been in the process of organic conversion since 2009.
The domain is widely recognized for its excellence, with numerous medals and trophies won in France and overseas, most notably they have won a “Decanter International Trophy” in each of the several consecutive years.
